Krill Oil and Its Many Benefits Compared To Fish Oil

Krill Oil

Krill Oil is a supplement derived from Krill. What is Krill you might be wondering and to answer that question Krill are shrimp like crustaceans that the whales eat.

What makes krill so great when compared to your standard fish oil is that krill is a much more potent oil as far as omega fatty acids go and it also acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent. This is due to the fact that when krill are attacked out in the wild they putt off this anti-inflammatory agent to help it survive the attack.

Krill oil also features your dha and epa oils but just in a higher level than fish oil.

Krill not only has great dha and epa omega fatty acid levels, but it also features phospholipids which are essential to your bodies chemistry.

What are phospholipids? Just watch the video and then we will talk about the phospholipids benefits.

More on phospholipids.

phospholipids just like the omega 3 fatty acids are important for your brain's general health. The easy way to understand what phospholipids are is by thinking of them such as when you where a kid and played telephone where you would sit in a class room and whisper into the person ear that was sitting next to you and then they would pass the message down the line, unfortunately as it got to the last person the message was usually change. Phospholipids rely the message thought your body and just like the telephone game, if they are off they can cause a miss communication error, which in turn can become of great concern.

Now that you understand what phospholipids are you can see why they are so important. More on phospholipids here

Our next ingredient in Krill Oil is another one that most people haven't heard about and that is Astaxanthin.

What is Astaxanthin? Astaxanthin is why krill oil is red it is also responsible for many health benefits such as lowering blood pressure, cholesterol levels and can be used for treating disease such as Alzheimers, Parkinsons, macular degeneration and stroke.

Astaxanthin is good for removing free radicals as well and can pass though the brain barrier unlike most antioxidants that can't.

I have included a great video below on Astaxanthin that I'm sure you will find very useful.

The Cons of Krill Oil are as follows:

If you are allergic to shellfish you shouldn't take krill oil because it is just that a shellfish.

Taking blood thinners you should also not take the krill oil because krill naturally thins the blood and that is why it is good for blood pressure.

As you can see the benefits from krill oil outweigh the bad by far. Another really great supplement to take along with krill oil is CoQ10 they almost work hand in hand and are both extremely good for your heart health. You can read and learn more about the CoQ10 benefits from my CoQ10 post here.
